Wedding Tips From Perthshire Wedding Photographer - Helping couples who are camera shy

I often meet clients that are a little camera shy, this ordinarily would be a bit of a problem especially as its their big day and they will be spending some time in front of the camera. Over the years I have learnt some tips and tricks to help overcome this problem with very natural results.

1) The first thing I arrange is a pre wedding photo shoot, this really does help with getting the bride and groom to be relaxed in front of the camera. This will make it a little easier come the wedding having worked together and broken the ice prior to the special day.

2) I discuss and show examples of the poses before the big day so the bride and groom can practice them before its a 'real' scenario. This will help to put them at ease and also enable them to think about other poses they may want to try.

3) On the wedding day I like adopt a reportage style of photography and dont get in the faces of guests or the happy couple. Keeping our distance more often than not get candid natural photos.

4) What group photos are required should be written down before the big day to make sure you don't miss any and it also makes the process allot faster and less stressful for everyone attending the day.

Wedding Tips From A Wedding Photographer - Easy Way To Write Your Vows

For all the brides and grooms struggling to write your vows. Lee-Anne and my difficulty with this was almost comical. Hate may be slightly too strong a word, but suffice to say we were not too fond of each other’s opinions regarding the vows.  We struggled for a while for weeks and weeks and weeks.
But somewhere between the thoughts of “I can’t believe he/she wants me to say that” and “could I be any cheesier?”, we came up with the following approach. I share this because our vows ended up so special, that they are still a topic of conversation to this day.
What was our secret, while it was simple, so simple we couldn't believe we hadn't thought of it earlier. We simply turned the process around. Rather than writing what we wanted to say, we wrote what we wanted to hear each other say. A huge weight came off our shoulders, and we were free to write what we wanted to hear rather than what we thought the other person would like to hear.
Then we combined the two versions and pulled out the very best of both. I think the whole process took us less than an hour and had us both feeling excited about the wedding and each other.
Hope this helps.

How Important Is Photography

I am frequently asked why I chose portrait and wedding photography as a profession, I always answer the same way; “Because I want to do something that matters.”
For an amateur or hobbyist, photography is a fun pass-time. But for serious shutterbugs and professionals, photography is much more.
Photography is about telling stories and more importantly protecting memories. With a camera you can protect YOUR memory of a scene, in essence capture the moment. You can also preserve that moment for generations to come.
That’s pretty important.
Photography has many uses. It can be used to document history, create art, preserve memories, etc.
Ask someone who’s running out of a burning home what they’ll grab. Nine times out of ten, it’s the photo album or photos of loved one's.
The bottom line is, photography is VERY important
